Bad Breath

Bad breath also known as halitosis occurs when odour producing bacteria develops in the mouth. The lack of brushing and flossing on the daily basis causes food particles to accumulate. This is a catalyst for bacteria and plaque to grow throughout the mouth, ultimately releasing sulphur-producing compounds at the back of the tongue and throat causing bad breath.
Factors such as poor oral hygiene, dental infection, dry mouth, smoking, acid and bile reflux and eating foods (garlic and onions) which induce strong odours can cause bad breath.
To prevent and cure bad breath be sure to brush your teeth twice daily for two minutes, brush your tongue, floss, drink a sufficient amount of water to keep your mouth hydrated, gargle with an antiseptic mouth wash or water and salt mixture, replace your toothbrush every three months and visit you dentist for regular examinations.
