Teething

Tooth eruption known as teething in babies refers to the tooth breaking through the gum line. Some teeth may erupt without causing pain and discomfort, however other teeth may cause redness and swelling in the area where the tooth is coming through. Teething roughly takes eight days; during this period your baby may dribble, chew a lot and be restless.

Ways to keep your baby comfortable during the teething process:
• Gently massage the gum with a soft wet cloth
• Chilled teething rings – pressure from cold objects can relive discomfort
• Paracetamol or ibuprofen (follow the instructions on the bottle to work out the correct dose
for your child)
• Teething gels (read the information on the packaging to check for harmful ingredients and
instructions of use)
